Each notebook or desktop or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software which interacts with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, along with any applications that are present on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, each and every application runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This goes for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS

If you choose to purchase one of our virtual private server packages, you'll be able to choose one of the three Linux distributions that we provide for the Operating System of the servers - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are among the most preferred and most stable server OSs out there and we offer them so that you have a choice for the software environment of your machine in case that you need to install some app with precise requirements in terms of the packages that should be present on the web hosting server. We also offer three hosting Control Panels and which one of them you may use depends on the OS that you've picked. We leave the possibility to replace the server Operating System open, so when you want to use an app that requires an OS different from the one you already have, we can always re-install the VPS. In addition, we can keep the OS up-to-date on a weekly basis by installing all of the security updates which may be released.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

If you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page since we want to give you a broader choice with regard to the system environment on your server as different applications could have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and take advantage of a reliable and risk-free hosting service. Depending on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you have selected at first does not meet the requirements of the software which you intend to run. We can also update the OS routinely in order to keep it as risk-free as possible with our Managed Services upgrade package.
